    Dear Gillian,
    I’ll be honest with you — I
    bought you this based on
    a misreading of the title.

    Don’t worry though, this
gift is just to tickle you
    over anyway. Once you
tell me your shoe size, I’ll
be able to follow-up a hot
    lead I’ve got on attractive
    acupuncture shoes so cheap
that even Andy will be able
    to chip in.

    Still, enjoy the book. It
    looks promising — especially
    since I fixed the title.

    Yours Truly,

    L.L.

  2. Dear Mom

I am sorry I acted so bad! I guess it
is kind of depressing but I wish you wouldn’t
judge my feelings on guesses, and insist even
when I say it isn’t true that your prediction is
right. X-Mas is kind of depressing this year. I
mean (I don’t want to sound stupid) but I was
always used to getting exactly what I wanted
but this year I didn’t. I know that that isn’t
the real meaning of X-Mas but I
    guess it is a symbol.

    I♥U!
    4-EVER

    Love Kate

    Happy Graduation! What a special
boy you are! Every time you pop in at
    the cart my day is
    much improved!
This is my prayer for you-The Lord
bless and keep you: The Lord make his
face shine upon you, and be gracious
unto you: The Lord lift up his
countenance upon you, and give you
    peace. Numbers 6:24-26

    God Bless You,
    Sarah

  4. Eve –
    Please don’t be
angry with me — I do
    have a copy of this
    book, which I could
    have lent you –

    but — how can
I say it? — you just
    cannot read “gift from
the sea” — it must be
    kept nearby – always-
    to read & reread –
    there is so much of
    you in anne lindbergh’s
    writing–

    the deep spirit
of — ‘woman’ — in all
    it’s loveliness, mysticism
    and splendour — the ache
    of longing, of loneliness –
    and all those many
    unspoken thoughts –
    above all –

    the wond’rous
    beauty of ‘femininity’ –
it is all you, Eve –
    we need no words -
to express our bond of friendship –
    my feeble mode of
    expression falls short
    of what I would
    will from my heart -

    Forgive me –
    but in reading
    this — I know -
    you will understand -

    Sue

  5. Krista,

Hope you get a little more
inspiration from the ideas in this book.
(If it’s even possible for you to be
more inspired.) You have already done
it, you are already there, you are already
    here. Just be!!!

    Yours,
    Andrew

  9. 24/1/93

    To: Bonnie,
Today Sunday January 24th, I had
or experienced two of the happiest and
peaceful hours in my life. I was just
walking, passing time. It felt great,
so i wanted to hold the moment and
share it with someone special, a friend.
I bought this book for you Bonnie,
so i could share my happiness with
you, at least in spirit at that
time. Please accept this as a symbol
of a happy moment i shared with you.
Your friendship and caring means a lot to me.
    Thanks for being you.

    Your friend,
    Ana
